My husband and I just got back from the most amazing trip to New Zealand. It is a spectacularly beautiful place, with wonderful opportunities for photography. We visited both the North Island and the South Island. The scenery is stunning throughout both islands. One of my favorite photographic opportunities was visiting Lake Matheson. We arrived in the morning on a great weather day and walked about 45 minutes to get to the best place to shoot ("Reflection Island"). When we first arrived, the water was not completely still, but about a half an hour into the shoot, the water became completely still, resulting in the mirror-like reflection photo at the start of this photo slideshow. We also visited a number of gorgeous waterfalls (one of my favorite things to photograph). Hiking to and from the waterfalls provided us with a great deal of exercise. One of the other great places we visited was the Abel Tasman National Park, most of which is only accessible by boat. The water is a gorgeous shade of turquoise and there are some great coves. We also visited two great gannet colonies and a penguin colony.

We also saw some spectacular sunrises. The food was great and extremely fresh. And, of course, the wine was top-notch. I hope you enjoy the photos!
